Keith Richards, The Rollings Stones. 1953 Fender Telecaster electric guitar.
This guitar is owned by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones and is perhaps the most famous Telecaster in rock history. It has appeared on every Rolling Stones tour since the early 1970’s, making it one of the most-played, famous guitars.

It is said that Eric Clapton gifted the guitar to Keith Richards around his 27th birthday, likely in late 1970 or early 1971, coinciding with the early recording sessions for The Rolling Stones album Exile on Main Street.

It was during these sessions that Keith transformed the guitar into a 5-string by taking off the low E string and putting the guitar into an open G tuning.

Micawber remains one of Richards’ go-to guitars, both in the studio and on stage. Richards named the guitar after Wilkins Micawber, a famously optimistic character from Charles Dickens's novel David Copperfield.
