Dave Grohl. 1967 Gibson Trini Lopez electric guitar.
Dave Grohl’s red 1967 Gibson Trini Lopez Standard is his most prized guitar and the core studio instrument behind every Foo Fighters album. Grohl bought the cherry red hollow-body around 1992 at Southworth Guitars in Bethesda, Maryland, while still playing in Nirvana. He used it to write demos and record every single Foo Fighters album, calling it the defining sound of the band.
"Every album we have ever made, from the first to the latest, was recorded with my red 1967 Trini Lopez signature guitar. It is the sound of our band, and my most prized possession from the day I bought it”, Grohl posted on the Foo Fighter’s social media accounts.
Dave Grohl's own signature Gibson DG-335 guitar takes many design cues from his prized Trini Lopez: the diamond-shaped F-holes, split inlays and Firebird-style six-in-line headstock to name a few.
