Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Izabella'. 1968 Fender Stratocaster electric guitar.
‘Izabella’ is Jimi Hendrix's 1968 Olympic White Fender Stratocaster, most recognised by Hendrix’s historic performance at Woodstock on 18 August 1969, playing a distorted, wrenching interpretation of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’.

Hendrix bought this guitar at Manny's Music in New York City in 1968. It was the last guitar he played with the original Jimi Hendrix Experience and the final guitar he ever played in concert. He died on 18 September 1970, aged 27.

Hendrix’s song entitled ‘Izabella’ is powerful anti-war song written from the perspective of a soldier fighting in the Vietnam War who dreams of his lover, Izabella.
